Reclaim Recycled Products™

OUR HISTORY:
Reclaim Recycled Products was established in 2009 by Urban Green Inc. Reclaim was born after seeing a need for landscape elements made from reclaimed materials by the Vancouver landscape architect community. Our Mega Slab and Unique Slab benches were the first products to be manufactured under the Organic Objects line. Since then, we have developed several other great products, including the I-Line, all of which use reclaimed wood and/or building demolition materials.

OUR MANDATE:
To create high value furnishings utilizing reclaimed materials. Currently, all of our products incorporate some type of reclaimed wood, whether it is fallen timber or driftwood or a lift of planks from a demolished building. We also source other recycled materials, such as structural I-beam, to use in our furnishings. Our products are made with 99% ‘garbage.’ We call it garbage because that’s what it is – waste material that has not been processed. The materials we use are how they were when they were disposed of. We refurbish them with an objective to create and deliver a quality product that provides great value and great style. Building with garbage is about efficient use of our resources, we think people like it because it’s green, but we mainly think they like it because it’s smart.

OUR GREEN APPROACH:
Reclaim Recycled Products is unlike any other product available on the market right now. Building our products with reclaimed materials allows us to not only offer green furnishings that qualify for LEED points but at the same time, offer products that exceed in aesthetics and durability.

OUR STYLE:
Reclaim Recycled Products is focused on being green by using reclaimed materials, but we are also focused on making these materials look great in any space. When we develop a new product concept, we like to envision where it is going to go (ie: park setting, industrial area, commercial district) and try and design it with that location in mind. Our Organic Objects line is ideal for park settings as all its furnishings are made from reclaimed wood, giving it a very organic look and feel. The I-Line mixes both wood and I-beam achieving a simple, yet industrial appearance, making it a perfect addition to virtually all spaces. We have two objectives when making our furnishings; one being the materials we use, and the other is ensuring an appealing and sturdy design. Our goal is to find useful waste material and employ it in new and valuable applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q Why are Reclaim products advertised as 'recycled'?

Reclaim products are advertised as recycled because instead of making products out of recycled materials, we recycle the materials ourselves by building the products. By changing the applications of these materials (ie: I-beam from holding up a building to holding up a bench), we are able to extract residual value from items that were once thought to be at the end of their lifecycle.

Q How is Reclaim made?

Reclaim Recycled Products furnishings are generally made using reclaimed wood (Red and Yellow Cedar and Fir) and building demolition materials such as I-beam. The wood is sanded down with various abrasives until a beautiful finish is achieved and has a low V.O.C. treatment giving it a natural looking shine. The I-beam is cut to spec, cleaned and powder-coated to give it a brand new look and feel. After hours of work, these unwanted materials are renewed as stylish and functional Reclaim products.

Q Where do you find Reclaim products?

Reclaim Recycled Products Natural Elements are found in a variety of settings. One of the most common being city parks. Our products help give pathways and trails a natural feel. The new I-Line by Reclaim features several products that are ideal for all settings (ie: parks, restaurants, lobbies, coffee shops, courtyard squares, etc.). The stylish and sturdy design of Reclaim products and their sustainable nature make them a perfect site amenity.

Q What is the Reclaim Recycled Products 'Organic Objects' line?

The Organic Objects line from Reclaim Recycled Products is a wood based furnishing line. This line uses reclaimed wood (Red or Yellow Cedar) and come in various shapes, sizes and styles. Currently we have the Chunk, the Mega Slab, the Unique Slab, the Old Growth Slab and the Cedar Split Log benches (and a Cedar bollard) within this line. Each item has its own unique attributes, whether it's thickness, size or overall look. What they all have in common is that they are all sanded down with various abrasives until a beautiful finish is achieved and they are made completely out of reclaimed wood. This includes custom made legs for each style of bench. The different products in the Natural Elements line can be viewed in our online store: The Landscape Architect Superstore.

Q What is the Reclaim Recycled Products 'I-Line'?

The I-Line from Reclaim Recycled Products is a wood and steel based furnishing line. This line uses reclaimed wood (Fir planks) and decommissioned structural I-beam to achieve various products that differ in style and function. Currently the I-Line features the I-Bench, the I-Seat, the I-Barstool, the I-Laptop Table and the I-High Table. Like the Natural Elements line, each product has its own unique attributes that cater to specific needs of a space. The overall theme of the I-Line features steel pedestals with wood finishing (whether it is a seat or table top). One of the great things about the I-Line is that the products can be interchanged or placed in various configurations. For example, configuring an I-Laptop Table with 3 I-Seats (instead of 4), makes it wheelchair accessible.
